About Ryan
Digital & Traditional Artist
Ryan Calloway is a multifaceted artist residing in Berkeley, CA, with a notable reputation in the fields of design, music, and dance. As a world-renowned Lindy Hop dancer and instructor, he has taught and performed across the United States, as well as in Vienna, Budapest, Cape Town, Singapore, and Vancouver. Ryan is also an accomplished musician, playing the clarinet, saxophone, and banjo with a focus on Ragtime, early jazz, and blues. He has graced stages around the world and leads two acclaimed bands in the Bay Area.
Within the realm of design, Ryan is a seasoned expert with skills that span across album design, illustration, and branding. He honed his craft by studying film and 3D computer graphics at Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood, CA. Teaching others is one of Ryan’s greatest passions, which he has done domestically and internationally. As a representative of the Industrial Light and Magic team, he traveled to Singapore (ILM Singapore and Lucasfilm Animation Singapore) to instruct on topics such as Mari, Photoshop, ZBrush, and proprietary pipeline tools. Ryan also served as an adjunct instructor at AAU for several years, where he taught anatomy, digital sculpting, and character design. While Ryan continues to teach, he is currently working as a freelance designer and musician.

In addition to designing, I’m also a Jazz musician. I play with such bands as The Silver Bell Jazz Band, The Gaslight Squares, Miss Jubilee, and The Hot Baked Goods.
